Anyway, time to make up for all those extra calories. I moved forward as planned and started my 5 day juice fast. Unfortunately, Andrew isn't joining me this time around. Liza, however, is going to go on a 3 day fast starting on Wednesday! I'm hungry, but not starving! I guess it doesn't help watching Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives.
So veggies/fruits are getting mad expensive. I figured to go bulk so hit up the Costco. Three Asian pears, three cantaloupes, 2 bags of baby cukes, 2 bags of celery, 1 bag of snap peas, 3 lbs of pineapples, 16 apples, a big box of oranges, and 7 lbs of carrots. SEVEN POUNDS! Total damage was still damn expensive: $77. And I'll prolly destroy everything in about 4 days. At 3 meals a day, that's 12 total meals, which equates to over $6 a meal. Not bad considering I was averaging about $15-$20 every single day JUST for lunch! Costco seems great for fruits...not so much for veggies.
So the love for juice is spreading. I already convinced DJ and the MIL. The hardest part was convincing Haley. I started her off easy with just apple juice. Then I stepped it up and gave her apple juice and carrot juice (above pic), and she loved it! Today she went ballsy. I juiced up some cukes, celery, kale, apples, and pineapples. She loved it, too! I'm so happy that my little angel loves this super nutritious juice!
So I've been juicing for a full week now. Still love it. I think I'm addicted actually. My energy level hasn't taken a dive at all, and my pants even fit better! I even asked DJ if I could use a portion of the backyard to grow my own veggie garden, and I even priced out a Bokashi composter! Do I miss food? Hell yeah I do! Believe me, I constantly convince myself every day to not stop by Five Guys. But like I said. My taste buds have had enough partying and I'm not doing this just for some competition. I'm also doing this for my family.
So day 1 of the fast was as expected. It's tough, but not that bad. The trick: If you get hungry at night, just go to sleep!
I too am addicted! I'm glad Haley like the juice too. No food isnt really not as bad as I thought it would be. End of day 2 kinda sucked with a dull headache, but nothing I couldn't get over. Day 3 came with some mind clarity, I'll be sure to call you on Wednesday night to se if you get it too.
ReplyDeleteMy stomach was paying for the food we had on Sunday night. It wasn't used to all that rich food after 15 days of mostly juicing my meals. Made me wonder what would happen if I went on an extended juicing feast.....

ReplyDeleteyou'll have a ton of leftover spinach stuffing since mushroom heads are small. just use it all since it's factored into the calorie intake! i just dumped mine on top before baking. i did add red pepper flakes to mine. i'm sure it would be a great veggie dinner for whenever you're eating solids again! or at least a low cal side item
dude, that spinach f'd up my stomach! my poo's were like scattered leaves! so yummy tho!
ReplyDeletehow many did you have? i only saw you take that one when you first got there?
