Just like most people in America, I've tried everything: Atkins, P90X, lemonade diet, starvation, and the good ol' diet and exercise. In reality, none of these (aside from diet and exercise) are sustainable for me. So now here's another plan and I'm hoping will work and I'll be able to sustain for the rest of my life.
1) First and foremost, I shall admit that nobody is perfect. I will slip, I will cheat, I will have the occassional treat. But it's up to me to watch the frequency of these events and how I will work to off set those extra calories. I will refuse to say that I will never have a slice of bacon or a scoop of ice cream ever again, cuz we know that's impossible.
2) With a very tight schedule, I managed to be able to hit up the gym at least twice a week. Doing nothing crazy, just biking for 30-60 min. This will kill off a good 300 calories per session!
3) Do yourself a favor and watch "Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dying" (Thanks Liza!). It's a documentary of an obese Aussie who goes on a juice fast for 60 days. It's a very imformative diet that's also very inspirational. I was able to borrow my MIL's juicer and plan to start tonight. I'm not going to go crazy and do a 60 day thing. Like I said, I want to be realistic. However, I do want to try a 10 day fast, and if that proves to be beneficial, then who knows...I might try for longer. Right now, I have a fridge full of food that I just bought (all healthy stuff) that I want to finish off before I start my juice fast. For now, I'll replace one or two meals a day with juice. Gonna buy a shit load of kale tonight!
4) Of course I'll do the common sense things: stay away from beef, pork, sugars. I won't be Nazi about it and stay away from every single starch known to man. But I'll def keep in mind the amounts of carbs I'm ingesting.
So that's the plan. My taste buds have partied for 36 years and it's time to make a change of pace.
